Holidays

Versailles. We’re visiting in September, staying nearby the nights before & after.

Any top tips re seeing what we need to see there in a day? Any further tips about where best to park?

Remember to go to the loo before you visit.

You’ve had a really lovely holiday by the seems of it.

It was a bit of a trek, but it was brilliant. The fancy anniversary dinner on the first night was superb. Drying down the B500 through the Black Forest and then in to Switzerland is quite picturesque. Switzerland is eye wateringly expensive.
Genoa was very good, but a bit hot and humid. We saw whales.
Arles and Avignon are well worth a visit. Beaune is beautiful. Learnt lots about wine.

Had some brilliant food. And wine. There seemed to be lots of wine.

Off to Stockholm on Saturday for a few days. Not been back since I lived there 25 years ago.

Stockholm has been quite nice today. Have had a wander around the old town and palace. A few Irish bars have crept in to the old town. I don like that. Gone slightly more cheap touristy and there are more outside seating at cafes and restaurants, which seems nice.
Had a nice tea.

Think the next holiday will probably be taking the caravan to Norfolk for a weekend.
Think we are done with fancy holidays until at least Easter.

Well I’m just back from a very mixed experience. I was off to Mallorca to meet a friend but decided to stop in Valencia for a few days first. Sadly on day one, my passport was either stolen or misplaced and it became a drama to find a replacement so I could carry on my journey or even get home!

Had to take a bus the next day to Alicante as that was the nearest British consulate! So a day wasted.

Drama eventually all resolved and managed to get to Mallorca.

I recommend north west Mallorca and “Sóller” to anyone that hasn’t been. It’s a stunningly beautiful part of the world

We went to A few years back. Had the meh.

Had a passport stolen in the South of France once.
Rang the British Consulate in Marseilles and once they established I wasn’t flying home they could not have been less interested.
Told me to report it at the Gendarmerie and travel on the document they gave me (which was for French Nationals who had lost their Identity Card)
I was travelling by train so no car or driving licence either.
I got an exit stamp from the French at Calais which was unheard of at the time and a right grilling from British Immigration at Dover.

I wondered where you were on the island.

I’m a big Puerto Pollenca fan.

Just got this through the door. With the usual junk mail.

At 4 1/2 hours and 260 miles away I’m impressed but bewildered. No idea why someone thought to target my street!!
