The Colosseum is pretty impressive from the outside, and there are other monuments which are literally in the streets.
The view from the top of the Vittoriano is very good. And there’s a cafe there for lattes etc (the museum of the Risorgimento downstairs is probably only interesting if you’re Italian TBH).
I know what you mean though. As a kid we had a school visit to Pompeii cancelled because of a cholera outbreak in Naples. And a scheduled excursion to The Holy Land on the same Mediterranean jaunt was ditched on account of the Arab states launching a surprise war (Yom Kippur).

Italy is now up to 7375 cases and 366 deaths, and both Germany and France have over a 1000 cases each. Going to be an interesting couple of days, expect most of use will be working from home from Tuesday or Wednesday.

Southport on Saturday. Average age in Southport means anyone with the virus entering is a risk to whole population. Mind you based on my last few visits you’re just as likely to get killed by a crazed mobility scooter rider.
