My old MP when I lived in Hove.
I had a bit of a row and an email exchange with him in 2015 over supporting the (Conservatve) Governments plans to bomb Syria, We ended up disagreeing but I remained on his Christmas card list. He was much more engaging than the Tory MP Maria Caulfield (Con Lewes) was when I emailed her after I moved.
Peter Kyle was all over the political chat shows before the election, was shadow Northern Ireland minister and now Science and Technology which is why he was presumably being interviewed about Facebook.
He is a pragmatist and accepts the things he can’t change and always has an eye on the electorate. So not on the left of the party and certainly not a Corbynite.
My take on the interview was that he thinks that there is fuck all Britain can do about what happens in the US and the only thing they can control is what happens in the UK.
So no point in grandstanding about something you can’t influence and pissing off people you will have to end up negotiating with.
On a separate note I wonder if Nick Clegg knew this was coming and is the reason he has resigned from his position as President for Global affairs (Worldwide Comminications) at Meta.

I agree up to a point.
My young workmate Stuart, who is of the youtube generation, has been thoroughly radicalised by me. 
I don’t disagree, but we should also be mindful that each generation has had its Ruiner of Youth. Truth is we’re all know-it-all little fucking idiots when we’re young - a habit I’ve yet to shake as I lumber into my dotage…
