Debt.

The gov’t doesn’t really care.

The number of people being put on pre-pay meters and being visited by bailiffs has gone through the roof.

Annoys the fuck out of me that energy companies are probably paying debt collectors, solicitors companies and firms that swap the meters over more than the energy debt is worth.

Want some good PR, give poor people free energy (or at least subsidise 50% to get it back down to pre rise rates) until april.

So many firms seem happier spending lots to recover a little where writing it off would be cheaper and more humane.

Service Provider 101.

They believe that if they do it for one (the needy), then they’ll have to do it for all.

It makes the majority feel better about the service provider that a few aren’t getting something for nothing.

They aren’t.

I’m struggling with the word Service here. Once upon a time, maybe. But they have shareholders now.

Mainly in Qatar, France, Germany etc

Yorkshire Water have been breaking into the gas supply business up here. Doesn’t seem to have worked out for them.

Johnson vs Corbyn looked a bit like Trump vs H.Clinton.
The lesser evil was too unpalatable and/or hated, so we got Johnson and Trump.

Now, 3 years later, I can not say wholeheartedly that Starmer will be a great alternative if it’s election time.
Labour, Corbyn and especially now Starmer not distancing from the Conservative type hard Brexit is imo the biggest strategic mistake ever. The gloom and doom Remoaners being accused of Project Fear knew already they would be right at the end, as many expectations were fact based and not fantasy.
If Labour had taken a position of remaining, or at least to a much softer Brexit, they always could have said: we told you so. It will show statesmanship at the end, proving that Labour is worthy of being in Government. There’s no reason to fear to get estranged from the electorate if the result of the referendum is 48%-52%.
Or if Labour wants to support Brexit, fine, they should instead from the beginning have promoted a Brexit that would work for the UK without too much damage. Whatever it may be, anything is better than the full hard Brexit the ultra right wing ERG in the Conservative party is after.

We have now empirical proof that Brexit in its present form is very damaging.
When the UK was in the EU, the UK had the best opt outs. Now the UK Is out of the EU, the UK should pick some sensible opt ins.
I still have no idea what Labour or Starmer want to achieve, how their plan looks like, supported with underlying facts, studies and prognoses.
They need to come with anything convincing, the opinion held by red wall voters as per link below is shocking, still turkeys voting for X-Mas. Again.
If Starmer can’t convince me, than he won’t convince red wall voters either.

tl;dr Labour is still fucked.

“I think people need to understand that the negotiation on pay is done by an independent pay review body,” Cleverly said, saying the government had accepted the review body’s findings, and so the matter was closed.

No, what people need to understand is that the govt setup the review body and the remit they have to work within.

Interesting to see that some UK politicians do not seem familiar with the rules and framework that have been set out to govern. Or understand how the country works, like the function of Dover as a crossing point.
Also strange to have a foreign secretary to comment on an NHS issue.

Exactly the overnment do not have to accept the pay body review, they can do what they like.
They refused to accept the Senior Salaries Review Body’s recommendations for senior civil servants’ pay in 2018 for instance.
They ignored the Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration (DDRB) earlier this year and have rowed back on their own minimum pay promises for teachers.

Pity that this hadn’t been mentioned in the interview then.

As if we didn’t know.
The NHS is safe in our hands.

Red bus, 350M per week, blah.
Gammons have forgotten that promise, nothing to see behind the queue of ambulances.

And taxis, looks like they are being block booked by the Tories to stand in for ambulances.

Then there are the diy ambulances. Handy for when your dad of 81 falls, breaking their hip and shoulder and you are refused an ambulance. In this instance you should strap your dad to a plank of wood, pop him in the back of your own van and take him to A&E.

Fucking Tories.

When I had the bike/bus shunt the first ambulance (flagged down while on driver training, so neither insured nor equipped to transport me) asked me if there was anyone nearby who could drive me, my banged head and my broken wrist to A&E. I gave them our home number, but in the event they managed to call up an operational ambulance for the journey.

If anyone does find themselves transporting a casualty then it’s important, if possible, to take another fit person with you. At work our head of Health and Safety set out to drive a colleague with a broken collarbone to the hospital, only for the colleague to take a turn for the worse on the dual carriageway A34. It’s a hard place to pull over and it’s also hard to tend to the casualty with one hand while driving in fast traffic with the other.
