Obituaries

As you say Kev not entirely unexpected but still very sad.

I saw The Pogues live many many times and every time they were brilliant - the Christmas gigs at The Barrowlands are standouts but their best remains the St Patricks day gig at the Hammersmith Palais in 1986 - what a set list

I also got to meet Elvis Costello (although he didn’t have a clue what a young drunk Glaswegian was gibbering about )

So sad. I followed The Pogues all the way from their gigs at a squat in Norf Lunon, the student bar at Oxford poly, and so many London gigs.
Met a young Shane when he was working in a record shop under the arches at London bridge station. I asked the shop owner what Shane was doing there. He replied that he was PM’s manager and it was the only way he could keep an eye on him.
RIP Shane. You were, and always will be to me, a true legend :ireland:

Liked him, integrity and calm capability. Can’t fathom why he, always so healthy looking is gone at what today is relatively young age, but the grim reaper isn’t to be argued with.

This popped up this evening and it moved me.

Giants of my generation hence wired so differently that it was never going to end well.

Why is it all the good people seem to be dying off - all we’ll be left with soon are the skid marks of humanity.

Met him at Villa Park a couple of times. As nice a guy as you’re ever likely to meet.
