John Mayall = British blues

John Mayall he’s always been there, nurtured so many talents, a tough cookie to play with, but what a tutor for British Blues players. Yet another genuine hero gone.

As previously mentioned I bought my house from a professional musician in his late 70s who had played for many bands in the British Blues scene.
I was discussing music stuff with his extremely well informed wife and John Mayall’s name came up.

She said he was an extremely difficult bloke and not at all easy to get on with.
“There is a reason he had so many people in his band” she said.

My intro into the blues as a teen was ''blues from laurel canyon" stone cold classic

Didn’t realise he designed the original Kenwood Chef mixers. That’s a particularly hearty upvote from me - I’m constantly disappointed by the prevalence of KitchenAid mixers in ski chalets etc, because whilst they might look a bit prettier, the Kenwood Chef is so much better designed from a functional perspective. Absolutely night and day to me.

My mum who’s just turned 92 still uses her Kenwood that she’s had as long as I can remember. I’m 53.
Can remember her getting it repaired probably 20 years ago and that’s it.

Suprised none of the train boys have been on to talk about this
