Hi,

I was sad to hear about the death of Clydie King, backing singer extraordinaire.

She was discovered by the man who wrote “Louie Louie”, Richard Berry, and spent time time in Ray Charles’ backing singers, the Raelettes.

She cut a number of very fine singles in the 60s & 70s but was best known in the music industry as high quality backing singer.

She sang on songs by people like, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, BB King, Humble Pie, Steely Dan, Dusty Springfield, Barbra Streisand, Joe Walsh, Neil Diamond, Ray Charles, Supremes, Diana Ross, Linda Ronstadt, Graham Nash, Carly Simon and many more.

She even sang backing on Sweet Home Alabama.

A fine singer as passed by. RIP Clydie

Great sportswriter. A good few of the current generation could benefit from reading some of his contributions.
