Reel 2 Reel - bottomless pit of faff, expense and hisssssssss

Had one of these in 1980 that was silly heavy. Sounded good though

Wonder why all analogue is in inverted commas?

The recent 45rpm cut they did from the tapes was fantastic and very reasonably priced.

Suspect the emphasis is as a result of the MOFI debacle and distrust in the market. I agree the 45rpm cut of Pieces Of A Man is excellent and very likely I will pick this one up as well.

Well it nearly works, the mechanism that comes up to pinch the tape is very slow,so put on play and the reels spin as if you had pressed FF.
Once it pinches it into place,it’s slightly twisted the tape, and I’m guessing because of that,no sound comes out.
Ff and rewind work fine though.

I’ve deleted the post as it wouldn’t show the link

Currently taking my Teac apart to find the NAB to IEC switch!

Technics surely?

Im pretty sure the RS1506 is just NAB only, the 1520 had switchable IEC.

One of the reasons why I bought the X1000M is because it had switchable EQ.

Ultimately I’d like the Technics adapted so the direct output from the heads is going to an rca output and then I can think about an outboard EQ box of some design.

I just borrowed a 2T 7.5/15 A77 from Matt which has the NAB to IEC switch. However it needs a power cable with an odd rectangular female plug at the end of it so I’m waiting to hear if he has that. But should be a nice machine
