I always wanted a RTR with NAB when I was a kid .. I had a Brenell ..and used it to tape John Peel ..It was quite good iirc …but dreamt of a NAB RTR … It’s a totally different kettle of fish nowadays…just nice to have one for an ornament.
If I was to buy a rtr …(Which I’m not) I’d want a B77 and it would have to have full service in it’s recent history with very good heads. Or a pr99 similar history. I have no reasons for wanting these machines apart from they are very cool …
The rabbit hole is deeper than I thought. This looks perfect. Looks like parts are easy enough to source being that they made loads of them for European radio stations.

Pretty much Japan only for studios and radio stations.
Direct drive, playback head and line outputs, and very respectable W&F of 0.025% at high speed.

The Telefunken M15/15A were the German equivalent to the Studer A80. Great workhorse. Still have excellent support from Hilpert, the original service agents. You even buy a refurbed one from them too with new heads.
Thanks, yeah I came across them when looking and what swayed me towards them with accessibility to parts if needed and then the fact they seem quite reliable decks. Think I’m set on one to be honest.

Nah, brother in law is a big Dean Martin fan and is over here quite often.
I’ve somehow acquired 2 or 3 Dean Martin records over the years. He’s a surprisingly capable singer even if the material is rarely to my taste. Always beautifully recorded too. It interests me how the likes of him and Frank Sinatra came from fairly poor backgrounds yet had the gift of effortless phrasing just as someone like Nat King Cole did. How did they learn it? You often hear modern singers trying to do it & they usually just can’t yet the likes of Martin & Sinatra make it sound so easy that anyone could surely do the same. Nope.
