Reel 2 Reel - bottomless pit of faff, expense and hisssssssss

Maybe, smoking in the home in the 70s and 80s was far more common than it is now.

Don’t remember meeting too many non-smoking music fans back when…

Well the Louis Armstrong tape sounded great right up until the point it snapped :weary:. Bit of a pain, it had original leader tape and I ran the tape forward and back on FF to loosen up the tape on the spool, but this is old tape stored in unknown and variable conditions so it’s going to happen.

Guy to the rescue! This arrived this morning :slightly_smiling_face:

The positive is that the tape cut in the gap between songs so splicing this together should be less obtrusive.

Splicing is addictive, you will find the urge to perfect your splice and in doing so realize everything can be spliced and taped better. Everything

Held together with sticky tape.

You can reverse engineer your records…

Anyone near Worthing in West Sussex?
Couple of blank reels of tape on gumtree look like they are worth a punt but have to be collected. He won’t post.

Fuck, nipped out for 15 mins and whaddya know, that’s when the parcel with the tapes I’ve been waiting bloody 3 weeks for turns up :man_facepalming:

Will now have to stalk the post office waiting for the Parcelfarce man to bring it back, for Curtis Mayfield tape reasons.
