The new amps have glowing VU meters. QED they must be betterer.
As far as I understand it the XA is along the lines of the Aleph X, which is basically 2 single ended Aleph circuits running balanced one for + and one for -. With a ton more output devices for low impedance etc. It probably has a Jfet input stage these days as well vs the mosfet stage in the aleph. Over simplification, but basically its an Aleph++, with probably a bit less euphoric distortion.
Good for you. I wouldn’t have the first clue on any of that technobabble . It looks OK and it sounds great.
It’s a direct evolution of the Aleph circuit, so easy to see it being better while retaining all the good stuff.
Not exactly new to me, but back from the body shop, where they’ve been pimped, are looking good and ready to Rock
Cheers Edd, cracking job !
Beautiful.
Are those the 10 quid eBay ones?
Yup, I wuz robbed.
Lovely guy, living in a massive house in the middle of nowhere. As I was leaving he told me that his wife reminded him that he paid over£200 each for them
Telling the Mrs how much your HiFi stuff actually cost = schoolboy error.
Not if you’re mega loaded.
Suppose, but even if I’d won the lottery, the habit is hard coded by now.
Claire still thinks my 401 cost 25 quid from a junk shop in Liverpool.
Not if she’s reading this, she doesn’t
Last update on the Pass Labs kit. I played the last Talk Talk LP and the Mark Hollis solo LP this afternoon. I can honestly say that this is the best sound by quite some distance I’ve had in my room. Without going into a load of hifi babble I’ve got an absolutely engaging sound out of my vinyl rig and very acceptable performance from the digital side of things.
I wonder what a set of decent horns might achieve on the end of this…
They would obviously spoil it
Nice to hear it’s a step up and working for you mate.
Horns’ll just quack more.
But then it would be highly unlikely that you would need, or want 100 wpc
It isn’t happening. I like my Arts too much.
Have a bake off one day and try some horns
