Shiny brand new second hand things in my system today

Long overdue. I’ll need to clear the feckin’ builders out first though. We are 1.5 weeks away from having a kitchen. Some time in the Spring might be good.

Put me down, I’ll come and snag the project :cowboy_hat_face:

I’ll get the vet in if it is all the same. Saves on the mess, what with all the new paintwork…

Lucky man,i want.

Bought some rca plugs for a fiver on amazon

Got the old soldering iron out

It lives

First impression is pretty nice, also nice to have more than one notch on my volume pot as this one is 1:30 as opposed to the copper one which was 1:100 and more suitable for an io

Thanks Pete for picking it up for me, pretty impressed it doesn’t hum too bad at all (mu metal can well worth the extra $100

Not mine but having a look at it for someone. A lovely sounding thing. Shindo 77 Pre

Very ‘old school’ construction inside with quite prosaic & traditional component choices.

Does pretty much all of what you’d want a valve pre to do.

I have always wanted a pre-amp with 77 in the name.
You have just doubled the options :grinning:

You’re already half way there though

Are those Allen Bradley CC resistors?

Not sure. They do look like they might be. Ken Shindo was certainly into vintage components. I reckon this Pre would probably date from perhaps the 80’s but whether he’d accumulated a stash of old components by then, I don’t know. There are also one or two Shinkohs in it (perhaps values he didn’t have?)

Sorry to butt in, but wasn’t someone looking for a Blackgate capacitor? I can’t find the thread.
I have a new/unused 500v, 100mf one I will sell.

Simon in the Audio Note M7 humming thread

Almost… we are looking for a 100 + 100 uF 350v, but it is possible @thebiglebowski has found something suitable

Thanks

Yep managed to get a 47+47 500v BG Mkz cap to (more or less) match the others.

They look like CCs but they might be (Japanese) Arcols Arcol Carbon Composite Resistors | HIFICollective. I think the Arcols are a bit glossier than the Allen Bradleys were. I’m curious to know if they’re more stable (the Allen Bradleys could be seriously prone to drifting in value). Do the ones in your Shindo still measure OK Guy ?
