Yes, I saw a Heston icing recipe that was lobster & pine scented to be served with a Marmite coulis. Should be a winner.

There is a local variation called gache in the Vendee

My boy loves to say " boys love gache " after the look the wife gave me when i said it once

Prompted by the pie making poetry on display at yesterday’s apple fest I decided to insult the memory with a couple of blackberry & apple efforts.

With ice cream but needs clotted

Pastry came out quite well. I was forced to include a bit of wholemeal plain as I ran out of ordinary but it hasn’t hurt. Blackberries & apples from our garden.

Ran out of the usual Sainsburys multi-grain flour so had to make a couple of white loaves for a change.

Todays loaf - Using up remnants of rye white and brown flours.
It looks the same size as Edd’s rolls but it is a quite large round loaf.
