Ow !
Good. At least try and make the change from horizontal back to vertical gradual and gentle.

Happy to report that despite being a bit battered & bruised (ego more than body!) Iām back on my feet again this am.
Seems the general family response of āAgain?..Fākinā drama queen! ā was spot on!
Had a couple of sessions with a chiropractor and following their exercise schedule things seemed to be back to normal but not for long unfortunately. I cant seem to lift anything that I would normally consider insignificant without triggering my lower back. So I guess I will back with the chiropractor next week and surviving with ibuprofen and paracetemol until then. Fuck
Get one of these Nick.
My back is a lot better than it used to be these days, thank fuck. But something significant for me when it was bad was a muscle relaxant. I appreciate things like diazepam, which are not without complications, but itās worth asking your GP about it. A lot of the extended pain comes from muscles tightening up really hard when thereās a stab of pain from the root issue and then basically refusing to let go.
Along with maintaining core strength, keeping my hamstrings and glutes stretched is what effectively manages my lower back pain.
On that note, I need to add something to compensate for the fact Iām no longer working in kitchens. The combination of moving on my feet whilst doing lots of small bits of lifting, generally whilst upright, did my back the world of good.
Might give that a go Paul. Thanks
Hip mobility needs to be maintained too. Not easy but worth persevering with.
Try to develop and then preserve the ability to sit right down into the bottom of a squat (no weight) and stand up.
Develop the ability to spend minutes just sitting and doing things at the bottom end of the squat range and again stand up.
Great work for ankles, knees hips and core once you are able to settle down there and do stuff, like reply to this thread whilst comfortably sitting.in that positionš¤£.
Work into it using support at first. This is the most important point!!!
Thatās me 8am every day.
Canāt beat a good shit.
Google search the Asian Squat or the Pagan Squat. Youāll get loads of hits from people telling you how to do it but basically having a shit in a continental toilet with the two bricks to stand on!
I saw my GP yesterday as Iāve had worsening pain and stiffness in both hands for the last few weeks resulting in loss of power and grip, inability to use my hands without pain and disturbed sleep.
The right hand is much worse. The knuckles are very tender. The worst pain comes from the tendons running from the wrist to the thumb.
I was quite surprised by the diagnoses. It seems that I have arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and De Quervainās syndrome. The holy trinity of hand misery. Fuck.
Itās dawned on me that, at 61, Iām now officially an old cunt. Depressed now.
Sorry to hear your challenges, not sure if you can get an electric pleasure device on the NHS.
Currently at nearly 59 count myself lucky I donāt get the ailments on my motherās side of the family, especially rheumatism. My steps dadās side get bad leg ulcers, including my dad who is having to have IV antibiotic at the moment. No idea re birth fathers side as havenāt seen any of them for 54 years.
Is that where @murrayjohnson lives?
Lived in worse
Fecking whippersnappersā¦
The GP recommended that I buy a thumb splint. Iāve been using this since yesterday and kept it on through the night. I didnāt have a great nightās sleep but a small price to pay as the improvement in my hand is remarkable.
Iāll have to take it off when handling LPs though.
And no sniggering at my tiny Trump hands you bunch of cunts.
