Having been largely barefoot at home for 50 years, I go in and out the house frequently so having some outdoorsy slippers on at most times is easier than having to stop and go hunt for where I’ve left footwear. Our downstairs is mostly tiled or wooden floor too so its generally more comfortable and safer than socks.
Yet another reason for a telling off from the Diabetic nurses, who are quite obsessive about feet.
Slippers all the the way or some form of indoor footwear , we have a dog among the reasons to
Sliders or crocs normally but I’m eyeing those Birkenstocks further up
Just had my Tricker’s Bourton shoes re-soled and heeled by Brogues in Brighton.
£85 instead of the £225 that Tricker’s quoted
They are Redwing specialist but were quite happy to do my Tricker’s and the Bishop of Chichester’s C&Js which were in at the same time!
I absolutely love mine. I want to get a pair of the moc toe boots they do but am tempted to try the Craft and Glory boots.
I’ve got about five pairs to resole soon - going to be expensive.
I can’t get on with the 4444 last though. I might have to sell my Bourtons and stick to the 4497’s.
Did you physically take your shoes in there, Kev? Through their website I requested a slot to get a pair of Red Wings resoled but have had no reply.
Just wondering if you went through the same process and it took time.
Sent mine to the Newburgh Street shop
How much did they charge, Matt?
I can just take them in there, I’m round there all the time.
I think it was £100, might be worth you giving them a bell 020 7287 5007 it was years ago
I took mine in.
Never got a reply from their website either.
It is basically a one man band.
I would suggest calling him.
Ok, thanks. 80 quid for the job he did on your shoes looks great value.
i never did understand the instance makers have with putting highly weatherproof, storm welted cordovan shoes… on leather soles!
As soon as my crocketts need done, i’ll be putting them on some kinda comando sole for sure.
not cunty enough
Fracap people, can you share how they come up size wise please?
Thanks in advance.
I’m a size 9 in trainers , wear a lot of Clark’s Desert boots. Always a size 8 in those. My Fracaps are a size 9 or 43 ( will check when I’m back in.) But they are a bit generous in size. I have Solovair insoles in mine and they are the comfiest boots I own. Mrs P has a few pairs of Fracaps and one pair in particular she says are the comfiest boots she owns. She says they are true to size.
They fit true to size but are a bit roomy in the toe box which suits my fat hobbit like feet. If you have a thinner foot a thick pair of socks might be required. To reiterate the above, probably the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned.
Thanks chaps ![]()
Just checked. Mine are a size 43. As above , I’d agree they are a bit roomy / generous rather than oversize. I usually put an insole in my boots anyway.
Quick pick of the wife’s Fracaps. These has a couple pairs in this style and a pair in the hiking boot style. This particular pair are the most comfortable pair she owns.
