Smart shoes aka Dr Cunties Cunty shoe emporium

In the grand tradition of forums I actually bought some Solovair chukka boots.

The “frictionless” thing was disconcertingly easy - two clicks and a fingerprint and that was it.

I’m not really a fan of Dr martens despite owning a pair of these , well because I’m lazy and don’t have to bother with laces. Long since discontinued.

Bought these the other day in the sale for £156 with blue light discount and I have to say. I love em.

8 hole Oxblood DM’S ? You a Skinhead ? :upside_down_face:

Ha , I am now but not by choice. Never been a fan of black boots tbh. Had a pair of black docs in secondary school in the 80s but haven’t owned any since the bought those 5 years ago maybe ?

I had a black pair of DM brogue shoes in the 80s.
I bought them in Shelly’s in the Kings Road.
Got asked by loads of people where I got them, as I don’t think brogues were very common.

I owned a couple of pairs of 10 hole Oxblood DM’s in my slightly wayward, early 80’s, post Punk days.

We were supplied DM shoes and 10 hole boots.
The best work boots I ever had.
Would I buy them with my own money ?
Nope ! I’d pay extra for a pair of R. M. Williams Comfort Craftsman.

When I was a kid we had cupboards (and cupboards) full of my dad’s uniform that he got twice yearly IIRC.

Every tradesman through the door was immediately asked his shoe size and if he was lucky size 9 walked away with as many steel toe capped boots (or sandals ) as he liked.

Mostly DM’s aren’t like they used to be - Manufacture went to Asia like so many other things and the quality is not like it used to be. The “Made in England” (MIE) line is still manufactured in the original Northamptonshire factory using trad methods.

WTF ? They don’t even make 10 hole, let alone 12’s.

Have a pair of the 1460s I bought off eBay a decade or so ago,new in an auction for £16.
Don’t wear them loads, but the leather is far better on these than the shiny 70s leather that took ages to break in.

No idea what other dms are like these days
