My father in law worked in the shoe trade so I used to get cheap or even free pairs. Bit of a shock when you have to pay full price.
JW are very responsive to email questions - if you need a more generous fitting with JW, they should look for shoes made on their Dexter last.
I usually look for a few things, Goodyear welted, full grain leather rather than top grain, preferably British made.
I’ve found Cheaney and C&J the best value that ticks those boxes, especially at the factory shops with about 50% off retail.

Buy cheap shoes or get yer own last made. Anything else makes you a bit of a cunt.

Not really. I used to live near the outlets in Orlando, I used to just buy the most hideous ones with the most discount. Most of them retail for about £180 a pair. Some versions of the foamposites are worth £1000+ but only certain colors.

1 pair Samba for going out.
1 pair classic brogue, for golf club and/or funerals.
1 pair scarpa hiking boots, hiking.
1 pair wellies, dogging.
1 pair steel cappaz. Work.
That is it.
Some , sorry most, of the shoewear on here is gopping.
