SOYS: State Of Your System

It may well be the case…Curiously I’ve had this line on the phone from from (Lowther / Spendor / Tannoy / SME / another I can’t think of) Perhaps there was a single arsonist employee who toured the UK bringing flaming vengeance to hifi offices?

So, having got sufficiently annoyed at the daft clearaudio turntable (I just don’t think the arm mass and my cart got on), I was able to talk a local dealer into doing something with a brand new 1200GR2

So I’m giving a very different approach a whirl for now!

Now I need a Japanese streamer

Honestly, sub £10k I think it’s about as good as anything else!

Time to come clean, sold the fridges and now have sellers remorse, CP to self.

Apologies to @edd9000 & @Mrs_Maureen_OPinion for not listening.

Beat yourself up about it - save us the trouble

Have you got little fridges now?

Continual work in progress :grinning:

Yup, got the washing machines on now. They are great but just sit here thinking about the missing bits.

Get the tiddlers closer to the corners and drop-hold of a couple of nice big fuck-off subs :+1:

And a powerful Electrocompaniet amp to to drive 'em - more power smooths these speakers out, gets rid of the slight itchyglitchy stridency that hits if the wick’s turned-up too high with lower-powered stuff - you’ll find it goes easier on the tinnitus as a result [T. had tinnitus since 4YO]

I’ve still to get my Direkts back in-situ due to the house move.

I cannot wait to get the system up and purring again - it’s been about seven months since the whole shebang has been set up.

Haha
I have a similar smart speaker by Harmon Kardon
It normally lives in the kitchen but occasionally in the ‘office’ when working from home.

I convince myself it is a wonderful thing (and for what it is, it is) and I could live with it, can see why people have them as their only source of music reproduction.

Then I go and play the main system!!

Just wait Allan! It will be great when your music room is finished and everything is back in place :grinning:

After 7 months you are in for a treat!

Agreed. I originally used a very decent stereo 20 with my pair of Direkts sounded pretty decent got bored and plugged in my ARC 75 just for a bit of fun.
Result ! Big improvement all round the 20 hasn’t been out the cupboard since.

Definitely has to be quality power too - they show-up every failing in anything that isn’t the full ticket!

Pretty happy with my room

Still got the Gato in situ. Enjoying the Revels with their clothes off for a change

Looks great! I really like vaulted ceilings - love the sense of space above, and I imagine it’s good for room acoustics as well, if the roof doesn’t slope at exactly 45 degrees (straying into the unknown a bit there…)
Anyway,
