You’re quite right. Well spotted. Those vivid teal recliners were really very handsome but over time they started doing my back in.
The replacements are also teal but not so vivid. They’re a pair of his and hers Howard Keith 1950s wing backs covered in a period Tibor Reich fabric. I think originally they were black leather and when they need recovered again I might well go down that route. I’ve had them a few years now and they’re the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever had.
Actually sounds quite nice. It is however an absolute thundercunt with oak leaves swords and diamonds to assemble and use. The arm is… let’s be honest here… fucking weird and the fishing line drive belt (which you have to loop and tie yourself because Well Tempered hates you) is certainly in the top five ‘cuntiest things I’ve ever set up’ and I’ve set up one or two things over the years.
The one I’m looking at comes with a dust cover and a Yakamoto arm lift. I’ve really wanted to try one for years but I’m a bit nervous of taking the plunge.
I’ve never set up the golf ball arm, but I do own the older paddle style arm. Not that bad to set up, as was mentioned the anti-skate is the hardest part. It’s actually pretty nice arm to use without an arm lift as well, the stylus drops smoothly into the groove and is easy to lift.
If he’s posting it just make sure he removes the silicon bath pot and either empties it or wraps it in plastic with loads of elastic bands around the top to prevent any leakage. It’s a right twat to cleanup that stuff.
