Another day,another bloody turntable
Wassat then ?
Revolver
Had no plans to buy it til I saw it on fb at a stupid price that I can’t afford ,but couldn’t resist.
Very had to find much info about it online
Never heard of / seen it. Any good ?
I hadn’t heard of it til a few hours ago.
Remember the budget rebel one in the 80s,but this is from the 00s
Sounded decent at the blokes house.
Has jelco 250 arm and goldring eroica cart.
Will give it a listen tomorrow
Good luck with it mate. Looks nice and the Rebel was an absolute gem for the money back in the day.
This one has the s version of of the 250 and not the straight one, which is handy
Friend of mine had one. It was ok except the speed stability could be iffy for the first bit of use. Almost as if the motor had to warm up. If I recall he ended up getting a different motor supply. But I’m seeing him next week so I’ll get him to remind me exactly what it did & how he resolved it.
Didn’t Revolver used to be based in Plymouth?
I really liked the speakers they were making ~20 years ago - they did a biggish 3-way fucker looked like a flip-top bin, but sounded pretty damn nice.
Cygnis
Yes they were in Plymouth. Mike Jewitt who’d been one of the designers at Heybrook was doing it with Charles Greenlees who’d been one of the directors at JPW. Then it somehow got involved with Audion.
That’s the badger. Liked them, never saw a used pair come up so guess they didn’t sell. Shame.
That’s who I got it off
Who? Charles G?
Nice, If I recall Hifi World mag gave it a very good review
Mike
Cool, I haven’t heard from him in years. Glad to learn he’s still going! Was he using a pair of Cygnis at home?
He asked how you were.
No he made some Cygnis on steroids when the company was closing
I thought they were large b&ws
They have a 15” bass instead of the 10” on the cygnis and 401/sme and audion 300b amp.
Is he still out at Widegates? Or has he moved into Plymouth?
