Had my 303 serviced by quad last summer and using it with a 34 pre. Sounds really good to me.
Must admit I’ve always had a hankering for quad amps. My enthusiasm for hifi started with my Grandfather who had a quad system with some mental huge speakers that I’ve always thought were Tannoy, but not actually sure. But the sound, and the look of those amps has always had a kind of romantic association for me, ever since. I’ll get around to it some day.
Auction house near me. auction next week.
Have had a rejig of the room. Need a nice hanging Ivy or spider plant for the shelf in the corner and few more paintings for the walls
Still the Quad 3 integrated, Quad 3CDT, Neat Petite classics and a Mac mini with Audirvana doing the streaming.
Have brought the Eames lounge chair back in as well.
Lovely space ![]()
Fab room.
Bullshit job before music evening. All shiny bits on platter treated with autosol. I don’t like fingerprints there! ![]()

I made a mistake replacing glass wool with real wool (felt) inside the Altec’s, evidently the same material used to make bass traps, the bass should sound a lot less “woolly” now (lol). I’ve also lifted the speakers off the floor with casters, which helps them breathe and make positioning much easier.
The front port panels are missing as my mate Mick is building two more with smaller ports to lower bass frequency response (something my crossover designer, Pete Riggle, has been suggesting for some time) so bass should be better once those are in place.
The EAR834P has NOS Telefunken’s that need more break-in time, and three NOS long plate Mullards are on their way to swap in and compare too.
Lastly, I have a new London Decca Reference II being built for me and should arrive in 15 days or so for a trial in my system (really looking forward to that).
