SOYS: State Of Your System

Oooh nice. I’m getting a nostalgic frisson of Charlie-Stumpy/Chumpy - erstwhile dweller in the thin grey no-man’s-land that divides genius and ‘eccentricity’…

Enough of this bonhomie.
I’m putting mine back in the boxes and buying a rocking chair, strategically placed so I can stare at the wall whilst rocking to and fro. :fu:

Having witnessed your elaborate head movements at various bake-offs I would suggest a rocking chair may be a bridge too far.

corner of the bedroom with various headphones and boxes. Laptop comes downstairs with me where I have AT M40X and Cyrus Soundkey and also using the dongles and portable bits from Sabaj and Chord. Really need to get the vinyl properly going again but 95% of listening is through AmazonHD and Youtube Music. Senn HD600 not in the picture as in their box at the moment

Have a Sabaj A3 and Totem Dreamcatchers downstairs for the TV and to connect wirelessly through on the rare chance I get to listen to music without phones.

i have enough trouble choosing what music to play without having to choose from multiple bits of kit as well

I think the coffee table deflects from the screen

Impulse H6 that have changed hands a few times on here. Sugden A21ap power amp; NVA (!) P20 pre; Jolida Glass FX iii; Systemdek iix with a Goldring something-or-other; lovely DIY phono stage from @gthang, that really is fantastic; Quad L-series subwoofer; Arcam Delta 70.2 CD with mods; XQ50 Pro Bluetooth receiver with digital out to the Glass FX, for people who, confronted with this lot, still want to play stuff off their phone. There’s a blu-ray player stuffed in there too.

Not quite as epic as when I had SD1s, and not quite as sweet as ESL57s, but an ensemble that is incredibly satisfying in this room. Can’t see myself changing anything any time soon, although famous last words, etc…

lol

Bedrooms and turntables are not a happy combo!

It’s the spare back bedroom where I go when I have trouble sleeping.

Turntables downstairs with 3 grandkids and 2 dogs is even worse

I’ll give you that! :open_mouth:

Looks pretty good to me. The Celius ES are among the best speakers Triangle ever made, for my tastes anyway :ok_hand:

Alex would disagree …

Thanks. Still think I need a better amp than the Sony though.
The 201s get played way more than the Treeongles

I assume the big brown boxes are the Goodmans? Have you tried them off the floor (no, not holding them up by hand!) My similar big brown box Tannoys improved massively putting them on stands to get the centre of the driver to ear level.

Thought about but not got around to it.
Currently they’re on these…

What stands did you use?

Mine were made out of 18mm MDF for me. About 8" high i think. It got the centre of the DC driver to about ear level when sitting down on our sofas.

Try a breezeblock or books to see if it helps, then you can go more ‘foo’

It tightened and increased the bass and improved imaging (which i then spoilt by putting bookcases and things nearby and a big tv between them, sorry @Jim )
