Speaker positioning woes

Someone was selling Sonus Faber Cremona standmounts recently, good little speakers and look great (to most). The floor standers also good but prob to big. You didn’t look at any of the Scansonic standmounts? Raidho standmounts are excellent but pricey and a little fussy about placement if you want best from them.

The Sonus Faber’s would do nicely, listened to the more modern Olympica 1 which were nice but £3k plus stands. Older models would probably suit my tastes better, sound and aesthetics.

I’ve got the Sonus Faber stands, somewhere here if you need em?

Yes get these :+1::heart_eyes:

I’ve always enjoyed neats at shows
They do quite a funky range with many colours

These would fit, need to get a listen

Great write up, from somebody who usually knows his onions.

I have owned neats in the past they are a brand I trust to balance both aesthetics and overall SQ.
I currently use a Dayton AMT tweeter in my DIY speakers - It measures well and sounds excellent

I have had Neats in the past, Motive 2SE in a shed system in Oz and MF7s (IIRC) for a brief period. Both were capable of producing surprisingly large amounts of bass (particularly the Motives which are quite small) given their dimensions. I found them both (and any other Neat loudspeakers I’ve heard) a bit bright though so they need careful matching and/or positioning. Good value for money and the owner is a nice chap.

The Iota look interesting, I had a pair of Petite IIIs, awfull and that was with a new pair of tweeters! Boomy bass wherever I tried and the tweeter/bass integration was terrible.

Neats need pairing with Naim or Sonneteer or Exposure, and then they are really bloody enjoyable.

I still have a pair of Elite SEs for when I have to flee the repo men…

The only experience I have of Neat was a home loan/demo from my local store a few years back. I tried the little Iota and Petite SX, liked the treble on both, but didn’t like the treble on the metal tweeter Motives I heard.

The AMT tweeter interests me as the best speaker for high frequency quality I have heard during recent demos was the Scansonic, which features a similar design derived from Raidho (same designer). Don’t really understand the tech behind it, just know it sounds good to me.

Just wondering if my 25w Class A Marantz will drive them, don’t really want to go back to Class A/B if I can help it.

The thing my system lacks (which I now understand from hearing a few others) is clarity and resolution at the top end, without being falsely emphasised like the mainstream fodder I have heard.

Going to try and sort a demo this week, as there is a pair on PFM available which I am sure won’t hang around too long.

And now, some emoji’s from my daughter;

Looking for some emotional support from the forum today, I get the feeling you’re mainly metrosexual types who are big on this kind of thing.

My house is now speaker-less (Sonos doesn’t count). I am left feeling quite unnerved, in need of reassurance that it will all work out.

Has anyone else experienced this or similar?

Does AA stand for Audiophiles Anonymous? Or do I have the wrong place?

Clue to overcoming this tender issue.

got it!

Could you really walk into a room full of strangers and say 'My name is Spenagio and I am an audiophile"?

My wife refers to me affectionately as ‘Spenagiowanker’, part of her love of my hifi hobby.

You could but I would guess that the response might be fairly curt and violent. A statement like this could only work if you were wearing alpaca hide cunty-boots and carrying a barbecue smoked Cherry Bakewell flavoured Hot Cross Bun/Mince Pie hybrid with bacon, unsalted butter and hot sauce on the side.

You could make a swift getaway while @Jim and @anon14766838 were scoffing the baked goods and/or trying to steal your shoes.
