Speaker positioning woes

Wall mounted? I’d be tempted.

Heard some mounted high hung from a ceiling, sounded marvellous but they had probably 1200mm space behind.
Wife would hang me.

Just messaged the designer of Buchardt S400 about wall/bracket mounting. If I can find the right speaker for this I’ll go for it.

Yep. Listen to this person - nice set of pro monitors on rigid wallmounts. Nightmare room with that layout. Pretty much anything else will sound like garbage. I’d go bigger and then you won’t have to twat-about with subs - nice ol’ pair of Event 2030s. Pissing money away otherwise… yaddayadda…

Larsen 4.2? Designed to work up against the rear wall or corners, up firing drivers as well.

why? looks nice sounds meh.

I agree with @sjs - wall mount small, closed speakers and get subs in the corners. Or find speakers you really like and just live with them despite the suboptimal positioning. The worst thing you can do is get speakers you quite like that might fit there, as you’ll find out that you don’t really like them and they don’t work there anyway.

In that room/ configuration I’d go for a sealed box design and shove them in the corners. If you’re chasing bass depth for your funky albums then I suspect that you’re going to be disappointed.

If it was me then I’d get a pair of Snells and enjoy those for a while and buy myself some time to audition more widely, or for things to maybe change domestically. I can’t help think that whichever of the £4k speakers you’ve come up with will be tragically compromised in that room the way it is and sound like a much cheaper pair I’m afraid.

I picked a pair of Snell Ks (the first version) up at Audiojumble a year or more back. They’re not doing anything here at the moment so if you wanted to borrow them to try then let me know. They seemed fine on a quick test but I can’t absolutely guarantee they’re perfect and I’m afraid I don’t have a sub to go with them.

Comes to something when eating at a table takes priority over hifi…

Really enjoyed @SCIDB’s AN J’s at a show a while back, so sounds like another good option Wayne :+1:

Comfy chair in the corner with top headphone set up would be my choice. I lived happily this way for years ………………

How about the Origin Live Astute speakers, could they work ? Would need to source s/h

No, just no, I heard them in their demo room and they sound awful.

Look awful too

I have a vague recollection of hearing them at a show and sounded ok. Haven’t heard them in a proper test though.

As @Spenagio has already said that he’s heard and liked Avantgarde horns then it strikes me that a pair of Solos with or without a sub would be a good shout for that room.
