Tales from Uh-merica

She has 26 years on the force, so yes you would think so.

Perhaps after 26 years it was also complacency

I was commenting after reading the article. I haven’t seen the video of the shooting and not sure that I want to. From what you describe it does sound like a genuine error but nonetheless it does raise some issues:

  • Tasers can be lethal also. Did the circumstances really warrant either weapon being used?

  • Either there is a major training issue or the policewoman is simply not fit to do the job.

  • Surely there are models of taser available that are less like a gun and less likely to lead to user error of this kind. It’s a nonsense if taser manufacturers are making them look and feel like guns and police departments should not be buying such models.

The video doesn’t show the shooting just before and after, think it’s on the beeb news site.

Why would he even be tazered when he was sitting in a car seat.

The fact that three plod couldn’t even control a pair of arms is fucking total incompetence.

Because he’s black and in America.

Complete and utter over reaction, and probably driven by racial prejudice, but add one major factor into this. GUNS!!
There are so many cases where the police are assaulted, from guns in cars. If his hands were showing all the time, then no excuse, even for a taser.

Apparently so, if you are stopping a car for dangling air fresheners in the rear window.

Jury has returned a verdict, will be broadcast in half hour live on tv.

Quick verdict, possibly implies guilty on all 3 charges

shit that was quick, guilty it is then

Yep, would seem that way.

He’ll be in solitude for a while then.

He’ll be dead if he’s not in solitary for the entire duration of his sentance.

Not a surprise.
I saw the BBC pointed out some of the medical issues and the potential pitfalls that might have caused issues.

My personal opinion is that it was a piss poor way to manage a prostrate man.
It is drilled into people about positional asphyxia and just leaving someone prostrate for a few minutes is irresponsible. Every one of the officers was as responsible. The knee but just got the attention. They all held him down.

I think there has been a building tension and this was the point that someone was going to get both barrels. I am not sure the officer had any intent to cause serious harm, but I am am certain he was very negligent in what the consequences could be. The knee on the neck looked bad but the real problem was his weight and body position.
It’s also drilled in to you that anyone displaying erratic behaviour and delirium is a medical emergency and should go straight to hospital.

There will be a lot of relief in the verdict. And a lot of relieved store owners who won’t be claiming for broken windows after a night of carnage.

Cool story Bro
