Tales from Uh-merica

And so it carries on.

Police in North Carolina are searching for a man accused of shooting a 6-year-old girl and her father after their basketball rolled into the suspect’s yard

People variously frightened and/or stupid with access to firearms (in my highly non-expert opinion).

Americans,
I have news to report.

I have done the ‘math’,
you are one letter short.

You could borrow the one
from the end of ‘sports’.

I see that man/sputum hybrid Tucker Carlson has been ‘let go’ by Fox. I wonder if that was a clause in the Dominion settlement or if Rupes simply wanted shot of him after contributing to costing him the thick end of a billion dollars?

An evergreen, probably-posted-before… But as true now as ever before.

Loved this eventually unaired takedown of Tucker Carlson.

Carlson has been sacked from Fox News, making him the first anchor person to be fired from the Big 3 shows.

Yup - he’s also been fired from CNN and MSNBC.

Quite an achievement!

Looks like it is more about a lawsuit against him for sexism in the work place than anything political, but that could be another smokescreen.

Two things have happened in the last 24 hours that are likely to be harmful to US democracy.

One is the news that jury selection is underway for Donald Trump’s upcoming rape trial. “Great!” you might think, but you’d be wrong, because amongst the subset of people who voted him in last-time, this is just more fuel for their meme-fuelled conspiracy-theories that Trump is a victim of a leftist plot. The fact it’s a civil case dating back 30 years will be irrelevant to such drooling imbeciles.

The other is the news that Joe Biden intends to stand again in 2024. He is too old, and even Democrat voters think so, never mind the undecideds. In common with Trump, he’s the least popular possible candidate in his party with the moderate and the sane - but not enough of them are involved in the selection process to exclude bad candidates. So, if Biden makes it through the selection process, Trump is likely to be a shoo-in for a second term…

I was convinced that Biden would want to be a one-term; he could have been a real success that way. What a dick.

I think the plan was that he would do one term then withdraw and Kamala Harris would stand to become the first female president after proving herself as VP.

Unfortunately she has proven more unpopular than Joe Biden.

Oh shit, that’s fucking awful news. Way, way too old to do a second term.

Two characteristics which would be considered protected in the UK probably don’t help with the idiot constituency.

Dumbass, old, white men dont like her. No shock but unfortunately they do tend to turn out to vote.

I’m not familiar enough with US politics to know who all of the younger Democratic alternatives might be.
Only Pete Buttigieg or Elizabeth Warren spring to mind. Too soon for the likes of AOC although one day.

Some talk on the radio that Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, might do well if he were to run. Slight issue is that he said last year that he wouldn’t challenge Biden.

Somehow there is more moral rectitude and emotional intelligence there than a whole swathe of candidates on one side.

But in other news from people you haven’t thought about in years
