Crop picking today.
And one that didn’t make it.

Beans look nice
Mix of Cobra and Blue Lake
Today in the garden was digging up potatoes day. Mostly Desseree and Pink Fur Apple.
The pink fur apple taste lovely and are giving us between 1kg and 1.9kg per plant.
They are the knobbly ones.
A good haul from the tumblers today. Never had much joy with toms previously but these are pretty easily managed.
We are trying them for the first time this year, I don’t think we will bother with anything else in future.
This border was newly planted this year. Previously the ground was all taken up by a hugely overgrown conifer which we had removed last autumn.
Getting good regular pickings from the tomato plants. There’s also a lovely beefsteak almost ready on the vine too.
Man we are rapidly getting overrun by cherry tomatoes
Saffy came in smelling of tomato vines and led me back to the plants presumably to indicate there was another crop of ripe ones ready.
There must be some way of preserving them in jars for winter
Freeze them. Obviously no good for salads but great for cooking. We us them all winter.
Make passata
Chopped down the sunflowers as they were almost over when the storms hit last week. This is the pick of the heads. Plenty of seeds for next year!
Love the landscaping which draws your eye through the garden and makes you want to walk through it.
Previous owners developed the garden in the 70s. We like it so just working with it.
