Some serious effort being made there, has changed significantly (understatement) since I saw your garden. You must have a lot more light.
Great work.
Cheers, Yeah its getting there, bit more putting back in rather than just ripping out as it mostly has been for the last couple of years to get it all under control!
This weeks progress, two Roses planted in the new bed, all scented and attractive to bees, one potted and two bare root:
In the back, two ground cover roses to go with the three existing unknown roses that were already here in between the Plum and Pear trees
About to plant two honeyberries, Lonicera Kamschatica Balalaika and Lonicera Kamschatica Altaj. I’ve picked and eaten them in the wild in both the Altai and Kamchatka - yum! like an elongated blueberry. They are a type of honeysuckle, but grow a to a 6ft shrub. Both from a UK nursery, I hasten to add.
More Lilac related content, had a start at the front hedge to give the Lilac a bit more space, seeing how much Box hedging is actually there and how much is Ivy or Elder… turns out, not much!
Turns out there is an old metal fence hidden in there, long assimilated into the hedge!
Long term we would like to replace the whole hedge with Yew but that’s probably a few years off!
Lovely
Beautiful
We lost most of ours to the slugs last year.
Love our Pineapple Broom again this year, scent is lovely and the bees love it! I plan on planting some cultivars of our native Cytisus Broom in the front garden.
Also the Wegelia is back with a vengeance after cutting back last year!
My rule for the garden is if it’s going to be planted in its got to have at least one of (ideally two) either Native, Scented to Pollinator Friendly.
Odd that we struggle with slugs in most parts of the garden but that patch evaded so far!
Lucky
