Does the non electric weight include the fuel in the tank etc?
On the electric car itās not just the battery. The motors have a lot of gravity in them too, plus all the heavy duty cables, heat sinking, cooling, extra armour to stop the batteries being punctured, the drive for the motor and the charger etc.
Other than for handling the weight wonāt matter much. Electric motors are very efficient at getting it moving, drag will out weigh any extra rolling resistance caused by a few hundred kilos of extra weight.
832Kg for the MkI Golf
I do think Metcalfe has got a bit of a blind spot in relation to ārangeā though. Heās obsessed with indicated range when really he should focus on battery %.
I suppose heās just reflecting the general concerns of an ICE-buying public but it doesnāt help.
Iād still want to know how far Iād go on whatever the % remaining is. % would be less useful than range in isolation.
No different to a fuel gauge and range on an ICE carās trip, the two pieces of info are required for the full picture and the gamble to keep going until youāre home or not.
That range varies with outside temperature and the use of axillary systems doesnt help either.
In fairness, this isnāt terribly different from an ICE car- although I grant you that the outcomes are less severe. I have LED blobs for a fuel gauge in my current car and both it and the miles remaining indicator are- at best- something Iād trust to a margin of 40 miles. I suspect like half a hundred other aspects of changing from liquid fuel to battery, further refinements are due.
Indeed, and outside of current temperatures, a month ago he would have got 200 miles comfortably out of that id3.
But yeah if itās not simple and obvious most people wonāt get it.
Because no-one wants to travel in winter, lol. I was actually pretty shocked when Adam told me about his experience - Iād have expected some range reduction in cold weather, but 30-35% is very high.
Knowing the battery % isnāt as useful as range when itās so variable.
Everything else aside, that iD3 interior is a hot mess. You wouldnāt get me in one.
Still better than the plastic desert + ipad in the m3 tho.
Did I see something on here about PCP on Tesla model 3 for as low as £380 pm with no deposit?
If so where is that from?
Up for changing car in February and Iām wondering if this could be the way to go.
Presumably net cost of salary sacrifice for a higher rate taxpayer so not a PCP cost.
Itās an NHS salary sacrifice lease. Not available unless your employer is also doing a similar scheme.
Lower rate in this case. Higher rate would be £332/m
Each to their own. I found it to be very nice. Not at all plasticky.
Yep, I freely admit not seeing the M3 interior (or ID3) in the flesh, so my opinion is based purely on review vids
I have not seen an iD3 interior either so I am prepared to be swayed. I do like the exterior of the iD3 though.
Yeah, it varies obviously. I garage my car at night and I get around 15-20% loss.
Electric seats on with lower climate temperature can save 2-3% of a whole charge which is pretty mad.
2021 Model 3 with the new heat pump makes a big difference.
Pre-heat pump model sucked around 2.5-3kW for the HVAC. With heat pump itās around 600W.
The Tesla deals on finance are pretty good. I might buy one on their loan scheme.
If you can do it through a company then it tends to be good, as the benefit in kind is currently zero, going up to 1% next year I think. That effectively means you can get it out of pre-tax earnings.
You mean all of the Thursday applause hasnāt resulted in large pay rises for everyone in the NHS? I will reset my tabloid infected notions.
