When are you getting yours mate?
ETA is end Feb.
What charger did you go for in the end?
I just ordered a wallbox pulsar pro for the new place, because small
I havenât decided which charger. Although itâs ugly probably a Zappi as they seem to have the best support for solar divert and battery. The Andersen looks nicest and says it supports solar but thereâs not as much info available.
If you have a battery backup whatâs the need to worry?
Basically you want your charger talking properly with your solar and battery so that you can feed your car with excess solar first, then divert to battery etc
And not confuse battery pull down with solar generation if nothing is coming from the grid.
I would only charge when dark, think it will be ok?
Probably going down the eon panels and battery too, got a call with them Monday
Donât see why not. Depends on what type of tariff you go for. If I can get it working properly with the battery software, I like the Idea of Octopus Agile, but Octopus Go looks more straightforward for night time charging.
I might be being naive here, but if you can get enough panels on and a big enough battery do you pretty much end up being âoff gridâ and just feeding in during the summer?
Yep, we did pretty much that.
I wonât because I consume too much electricity for the array size and battery I can afford to cope, but we are at home all day so Iâm a good profile for solar PV anyway. If youâre an average electricity user or battery billy big balls like @MrKettle with a Powerwall
definitely.
One tip I would give with Eon is go for the biggest battery you can afford. They asked me some questions and built me a quote based based the 5.2kW battery, but I went for the 8.2kW anyway. With inverter losses, depth of discharge limits and temperature efficiency losses, you wonât get full capacity.
Bigger is always better
Plus Iâm trying to convince the mrs to go ev too
You give her the Zoe and get a Model S Raven?
I like big batts and I cannot lie.
Was thinking more about some crazy ev conversion
Get that Hardly Ableson converted - a PP9 and a Tamiya RC car motor will double the performance.
Could go two wheel drive
Interesting that BP are a major investor in this company
