What’s wrong with the ironic?
Someone drove into it.
Garbage article.
One person with an axe to grind, and no counter. Terrible journalism. Only briefly mentions the systems the French and Germans are setting up, doesn’t mention reuse at all.
I see reuse of slightly fucked batteries as the way - have a was-40kWh now-20kWh battery for free at home, who wouldn’t want that?
Will it fit in Ann’s watch?
I rather like the look of the KIA version of that - the EV6
Nowadays the only reason I have for still driving an ICE powered vehicle is that I wanted a convertible before I was dead. That box has now been ticked so some sort of EV will in all likelihood be next. It was hard going back to ICE even after the Leaf - and that was a half hearted jump into a hybrid.
The Koreans are smashing this atm .
Looks like basically the same car with a different skin!
That’s because it is.
It’s interesting that Hyundai group (which I just found out owns both Hyundai and Kia) keep them so separate over here. There is a Hyundai dealer in St Albans, but the Kia one is in Harpenden and that dealer also does Mazda.
But their wonderfully-named E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) is where they have clearly been spending a lot of money. Frankly it looks great - two big enough battery options, and three power options, with 0-60 from “fast enough” 8.5s to a “proper EV” 3.5s. Charging is really fast - 18 minutes for 0-80% means you stop for a burger or coffee and can drive for another 200 miles. It’s exactly what you need. I also love the long wheelbase, ideal for those with a teenage son who seems to grow at a centimetre per week!
I’m really glad I got the ironic on a short lease now. And I suspect that I’ll end up getting one of these rather than a Tesla.
Sort of. It’s something Hyundai has a 33% stake in Kia and Kia has a 20% stake in Hyundai’s automotive division.
Bet that’s terrific in cross/side winds.
Better than a normal van because it has a 3 tonne battery holding it down
Hyundai and Kia complement each other quite well. They’ve also ‘done a Lexus’ with their Genesis brand in the USA - no hope of that over here though.
Sent an email to see how much a flatbed one is
Going to meet a friend in Oxford tomorrow. We are meeting at Westgate where they have 50(!) 7kWh EV chargers, free to use with no registration or RFID needed.
Parking is £11 for 5-6 hours. Normally a 7kW public charger on PAYG would cost about 30p/kW, so with my dodgy maths thats £2.10/hr.
So, ‘free’ parking in central Oxford. Niiiice.
@Jim use my referral code when you buy your Tesla
Oh fuck yeah estates are always better
