I did occur to me that because EV fuel is 10% of the price of diesel I am questioning the need for grandad speeds everywhere.
JB is that number with air conditioning fully going?

Our Ford Puma Gen E delivery is imminent.
The charger has already been installed. A Pod Point 3. The cost of this is included in the lease.
It’s an NHS lease vehicle and Mrs Rik will be using it most. Current car is a Puma (none plug in) Hybrid.
She’s shitting herself

Yep.
She’ll be mainly pootling around town for work, but she’s worried that if she has to suddenly drive down to see her Dad for whatever reason, the car might not have enough charge in it. And if it does, and gets her there (125 miles), she’ll then have to navigate a charger in a car park. Technology not being her strong point 
She’s also worried about driving the thing in the first place. Might be second nature to a lot of us, but she’s never driven an electric car and is worried about getting the hang of it.
I’ve absolutely no doubt that after a month or 2, she’ll have got the hang of it..

The one we have has a b&o system. Doesn’t sound too bad for what it is.
The way to manage this is to have a list of about 3 chargers on the way to her dad’s that are easy to use. The most obvious are the motorway services ones - I think you just pay with contactless on those.
You just plug in and tap, go for a wee, wait five minutes for terrible coffee, head back to the car and drive off.
With the charge limit on yours being 100kW you’ll have time to drink the coffee in the café; with faster charging you carry it back to the car.
It’s best to give it a try together so you both see how easy it is, and then the whole anxiety side drops away.

Yep, when they eventually give us a delivery date, she’s requested I take the day off work so I can help her get her head around it.
I’m giving myself a pat on the back today because I’ve managed to persuade Ann to revisit the possibility of an EV. 
This is mainly due to the cost of fuel and servicing on our Merc A250. We’ve had it 3 years 3 months. In that time, we’ve done 41k miles and had 3 services. So, including road tax and at current fuel prices, this works out to about £3k per year. 
(Not including depreciation)
Her showstoppers are that it must be no bigger than our A series and get to Ilford and back, even in winter (180 mile round trip) without having to be charged on the road.
Cost isn’t necessarily an issue, but I’m thinking around the £20k area. Looking at Auto trader, our car is probably worth about £13/14k, if sold privately (which I don’t mind doing)

I assume you mean the original one Gregg? If so, it would need to be the range extender version to get to Ilford and back…which somewhat defeats the object.
…mind you, Ann would probably feel comforted that if she got anxious, she could pop into a garage to fill the tank with unleaded.

Jim how about a big battery ID3? - To help minimise that range nervosa pushback you might get from some quarters with a 350 plus range. It’s there and back and there again car.
I do like the Renault 5 though - so just buy that

Yep Andy, looking at the range and size requirement, a 77kw ID3 or Cupra Born would work. I much prefer the looks of the Cupra, but she wouldn’t be too bothered with looks…the colour would be far more important
