Electric scooter would be better. Fuck the law.
Itās kinda too close to bother with anything but walking tbh. I do want an electric scooter, bit I have no real idea why! I also want to use it at 8mph on pavements, not 15.5mph on roads. I think the government has got this all totally wrong.
Pavements are for walking on, adult cyclists on pavements really piss me off, I think I would push adult scooterists over if they were on the pavement

I sat in a Tesla when I was last car shopping. The fit and finish for a car of that price was shocking. The interior is piss poor, also the general build qulity of the panels etc is a mess. For that money Iād want a lot more refinement.
Also, why are electric motors more expensive than petrol or diesel? Fewer moving parts, simpler devices all over surely?
I know what you mean, but as long as riders are considerate and not too fast, I think that pavements are better for scooters than roads.
Iād like them to be basically as fast as a decent jog, so you can do a journey across town, of a couple of miles say, in 10-15 minutes rather than 30 for walking. Thatās really not a speed you want on the roads.
Iām guessing that the batteries are a hefty cost.
With Tesla, youāre principally paying for charging infrastructure thatās better than everyone elseās. In all other regards, itās built like an American car.
Tesla also has bigger batteries, which further increases the costs. Then itās heavier, so it needs bigger motors, and onā¦
I donāt think scooters are suited to either roads or pavements.
Theyāre too slow on road and riders are horribly exposed.
Theyāre too fast on pavements - youāre either skittling people into the road to get out of your way or simply breaking their ankles.
I get clattered off the pavement and into the path of of traffic every day by cyclists, joggers and scooter-riders, and I wish a slow and excruciating death on every one of the selfish tossers.
Itās the drive and batteries more than the motor.

We were in Malaga in December & there was a city wide scooter hire scheme which seemed very popular. People were on roads & pavements. Of course it helped that there were fewer cars than there would be in an equivalent UK town like Brighton. It was also nice that the air was cleaner. Cars are the problem not electric scooters.
Of course itās more appealing where the climate is agreeable for most if not all of the year.
Malaga is part of an island that are reminded in writing each year of the need to accept and tolerate cycles as they provide huge amounts of tourist cash without the alcohol issues. Then you get a culture of acceptance and understanding. And much more room on good roads with very alert drivers for the moments that you stray off the pavement.
The problem with scooters and bikes here is that we have too many people. Too few roads. Many very poor quality road surfaces, and a lack of all round respect for each other when it comes to all getting on.
As for why leccy cars cost a lot, itās the R and D costs, and the infrastructure. Early adopters always pay far more for a product that is worth a lot less when the economies of scale finally kick in.
