You shouldn’t get white bits in mincemeat.

Have you checked that the lid hadn’t popped up in the middle?

I’m thinking blow fly larvae, I’m afraid.

Suitable for vegetarians . . . looking to add a bit of lard to their diet :upside_down_face:

Let’s not be too hasty, let’s see how it tastes first :stuck_out_tongue:

Suet. There’s a veggie version among the ingredients.

I know, I feel shabby and cheap. :grinning:

You now have ā€˜the taint’.

There’s a suit joke in there, somewhere

I’ll never trust his reviews again, clearly in the back pocket of continental big pastry.

I can’t remember if they have been mentioned befroe; just had two, of the CO-OP’s Irresistible Deep Filled Mince Pies.
I liked them. YMMV

No posh pies up here, it’s either Tesco, Coop, or these

Nowt flash, a bit like the Jura. Adequate, but who the fuck wants adequate?

I need to know, Tesco or Coop. Which do I go for???

Gasp! (Out loud)

When I was in our office kitchen area yesterday, I mentioned to a Strayan colleague that most proper mince pie fillings contain beef suet. He was eating one at the time and asked me what it was, I said shredded beef fat - he spat it out

We have a Gail’s bakery nearby in Wanstead, as folk mentioned upthread that they were great, I bought three - would have bought more but they were Ā£1.50 apiece.

Very small and not well filled with a big air gap between filling and top. Tasted ok, but I wouldn’t rave.

Quite crunchy but my head has been turned.

You roast beefs know nothing about light and crispy, yet chewy. Merde!
