The Pasteis De Bellend

I was going to ask.

Lol, no.

My sister works for Waitrose. I got them from her frozen. They don’t sell the like that, but… there are ways of liberating them. :grinning:

They are supplied by a Portuguese bakery frozen and I have sussed how to get them cooked just right. Pastry is super crunchy, and they have a lovely texture, with no over egginess and also have that lovely sweet melted sugar top. It probably helps that they’re not sitting on a shelf for hours.

I find them best cooked and then allowed to cool to just slightly warm, at which point they are epic.

I need to scrounge some more.

I wondered how they did them. Aren’t they like £1.50 each or something?!

Probably!

After inhaling four pound fifty’s worth, I can only concur - they were absolutely delish :ok_hand:

I sometimes get them from waitrose on the way to work as they cook them just before 0800 so are nice and warm still.

Breakfast of champions

I may be very drunk on a train, post 6 music Camden festival thing.

But I have ended up with these:

How I got them, I don’t know. Tasty as, but that may be drunk Dom talking.

Base looks good but the top is unappealing. They have a touch well ragged ring piece about them.

Great work

Just watching Rick Stein’s weekend in Lisbon, apparently the Pasteis Dr Belem should be served sprinkled with cinnamon and icing sugar :astonished:

Rick Stein is full of shite. Don’t listen to that twat.

I must say they were pretty decent. Obviously not the best I have had but very decent as a crack snack. Cat likes them too.
