The Pasteis De Bellend

We have to make do with the Lidl variety. Not long out of their ovens, 6 to a tray and inhaled in a couple of minutes.

I think they are really good, maybe a touch too sweet but that doesn’t stop me, it’s not as if i’m diabetic or anything :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Much of this thread explained…

Blagged a couple of uncooked frozen ones from work to see what all the fuss is about and baked one earlier - not bad.

Not bad for a first attempt - the work may well start to wonder were all their pasteis are going.

More hate mail? Why not!

Custard’s a bit sweet, but apart from that, not bad at all

Only 50p a pop, so very reasonably priced too :+1:

I don’t think they are very good. Co-op much better, or M&S.

Are they not made/baked in-store at Tesco? If so your’s could be slightly different.

Same as yours. Baked in store. Pastry is too thick, and never really crispy.

Another 6 from Lidl. Decent.

Simmons Baker, down the road. Crisp pastry nicely baked, soft custard and not too sweet on the top. As good I have had outside Portugal, and way better than anything from a supermarket

but this might be a one off - we stopped buying these from Simmons a while ago for soggy bottom reasons. Sample of 1 is not enough for a definitive answer

was a Simmons PDN with a glass of chilled PX

Given what Virgin are charging me for mine I’d expect it to float over when I whistle for it !
