Oddly, there are chocolate topped versions too.

I know, right ?

Can confirm to @J_B the Lidl de nata has improved immeasurably, with added 3 for £1 goodness.

In my experience there’s a big variation in the onsite baked goods from branch to branch.

Think I caught them on an off day the previous time I tried them. Or perhaps this was a rare good day . Only thing for it is more testing.

I shall be trying out the Hartlepool Lidl de nata when I get there in 6 weeks

They were very good last time

Netho Lidl is good in my experience.

Surprised no-one has tried these yet - they’re the same ones that are sold in the in-store bakeries.

Since returning from Lisbon I’ve not had the urge to suffer through inferior products.

The M&S ones are made in Portugal if that’s any use :grinning:

Not straight out of the bakery oven though, sadly.

A fairly technical deconstruction followed by detailed recipe

On the pilgrim’s trail of the perfect de nata, we spotted this in Camden on Saturday.

My assessment - decent but not earth shatteringly good.

I guess you’re in Camden Lock today.

This was prior to last Saturday’s gig excursion.

The pastry was nice and thin and temp just about perfect. The one slightly weird thing was a definite hint of cinnamon which made them taste more like a northern custard tart than a de nata. A bit discombobulating.
