Climbing wall?

Fidgeting with conniption at this.

And bailer twine …

I. Just. Don’t. Get. It.

To be fair, Steepletone have upped their game somewhat :ok_hand:

It does seem to be inspiring modern estate building quality.

Taking Harry on a ‘circular’ walk out of Bigbury on Sea .

Bigbury on Sea is the location of Burgh Island, an offshore outcrop linked to the mainland via a sandy spit which becomes covered by the sea at high tide. It’s famous for being the location of the 1930’s Art Deco Burgh Island hotel. The hotel featured in several of Agatha Christies novels as well as being a bolt hole for Londoners to flee to. Noel Coward was a regular there.

Our route took us up the west side of the Avon estuary, a beautiful stretch of water I kayaked up about 3 years ago and the river we got pretty close to the source of a few months back when we visited the dam further upstream.

A bright if grey day although quite warm.

The route was fairly undulating with several long climbs but we were rewarded with nice views of the river.

Poppies in the wheat

View towards Aveton Gifford

Thatched cuteness in Ringmore

View West with Ayrmer Cove (nearest)

Challaborough Beach behind which there is a huge UPVC trailer home/holiday park stretching back up the valley. And to the right, Burgh Island comes back into view.

A nice walk out although hard on my still recovering sprained right leg which is taking an age to get better.

Brave heading out there in holiday season.

Yes, the official car parking down by the beach was all full by the time we got there. Fortunately some dodgy farmer up the hill was letting people park in his field for a fiver.

Picking flowers. Ragwort, to be precise. A couple of hay meadows in the Rother flood plain are to be cut, so ragwort had to be removed first. Eleven of us were out, and this lot was about a quarter of what was pulled.

Didn’t quite clear it all, but good to see the change ia appearance.

Currently at Amy’s U12 football practice…

Many happy stays with Hel at the Burgh Island hotel enjoying cocktails and a bit of a dance afterwards.

I’ve never actually been inside. I’ve had a drink or two at the Pilchard & walked to the top but never into the hotel. Must see if we can go & get afternoon tea there one day.

That’s a lot of Ragwort, bloody stuff.

Just bought son and his mate tickets to see this lot next March…. Sounds like a relaxing evening :flushed:
