Today I have mainly been V4.0 (Part 1)

There was a very good documentary on BBC - Searching for Shergar

Well worth watching. Not on iPlayer any longer but this gives you a taster

To be fair she’s mostly slagging off her students, especially the Social Care or Hair and Beauty ones who are obliged to get a maths GCSE to progress to the higher level of their BTEC, Total bitches apparently, occasionally VILE (if you can, try to imagine a hiss in the pronunciation of VILE)

She has given me strict instructions that she’s never, ever to go in a care home. She appears to be more relaxed about getting her hair done.

I have very little empathy for terrorists, whatever side they pretend to be representing to justify their bloodlust.

Working at the new place. Laying Schluter Ditra on 2 bathroom floors. Should be a pretty easy job (not that I have ever used any before) but in this heat I am lucky to get 15mins with the adhesive before it starts to set which means mixing up for a strip at a time.

A weekend of tiling awaits

Working with my business admin  to organise stuff for our financial year end and starting to get our accounts onto Xero for the start of the next. Its tense :grimacing:

Xero is OK. My business finances are pretty straightforward - if you’re not selling goods yours probably will be too.

My ā€˜tip’ would be to run 2 or 3 bank accounts. One to do all your transactions, one for corp tax and one for VAT (I use one account for both taxes). Each time you get an invoice, transfer the vat immediately and transfer corp tax (after deducting relevant expenses) as well. Then each quarter when Xero does your VAT calc you just pay HMRC from that VAT pot and ditto at year end when the accountant has done his calcs. I also work on 20% corp tax so I’m always safe.

You can set up rules in Xero so that once it links to the bank account(s) it can detect regular transactions like phone bills and reconcile them automatically, ditto the tax transfers.

I think you will find that those accounts contain a large horn shaped speaker dividend which needs to be used before the end of the financial year.

Can a SIPP own speakers?

interviewing and workload management- finishing hotel bookings for next summer. Amazed how many places in Penzance already fully booked or want multi-night stays when we only need one…

Is that to catch the Scillonian?

yes but we are staying overnight, to meet Louise’s sister

we wouldn’t have bothered staying in Penzance, as the sailing times work well with the trains

We were considering the Scillies again but I think (Covid permitting) some kind of European road trip may happen instead.

Sorting out a false widow that had taken a shine to the west side of our house.

I thought I’d spanged it into orbit the the other night, but evidently it (she) was more than resilient.

With wolf spiders and whatnot I’ll just pick them up and put them out, but not this evil-looking bastard.

I use a glass.
Cover arachnid, slide a bit of card under the glass then deposit/fling arachnid somewhere outside

I hope she gets well soon.

I’ve only been in there once. A grand for a scan, followed by ā€œooh, maaate, there’s a big ol’ hole in your bladderā€.

few days recovery, not a nice procedure, quite painful by all accounts, but if it slows the Glaucoma progress worth it.

Found out my mum is finally going in for a knee replacement on Monday. After tonight she has to isolate so I popped down to see her - fingers crossed it all goes well.
