I thought if I did 3 days work I could afford to have the heating on for a couple of hours

In Lafayette, a new (to me) gig venue.

Seems good so far, and benefits from not being a converted music hall with a single toilet.

Nice 8 mile walk yesterday over and around Win Hill,

then went to the local folk club for the first time in over 2 years. Great evening, local musicians still on form and a guest spot from a trio doing everything from Tim Buckley to Led Zep

Even managed to drop into the Alehouse when I got back

What a fantastic day :+1:

I miss the folk clubs, I first met Mike Harding, Bernard Wrigley and Dave Williams at the local one in Bury back in the sixties. They were a breeding ground for talent back in the day.

If your in the North Manchester area there is a folk session at the Archer Pub in Middleton. This replaces the session that used to be at the Oddies. Monday evening at 7:00 I believe. My dad goes and apparently Mike Harding occasionally attends.

Unfortunately I moved from the area in the latter 60’s, so it would be difficult to attend . I used to love those nights and at 14/15 I could always get a pint by saying it was for one of the headline acts. I can’t remember whether it was the Royal Oak or the British Oak the nights were held at. I wanted to play but my fingers behaved like pigs tits so the guitar was out of the question, ended up with a wash board and metal thimbles on my fingers scrubbing away, a kind of folk/skiffle, I wasn’t very good at that either.
