Today I have mainly been V4.0 (Part 1)

Mmmm… My winky just twitched. Lovely.

Cyro hops next?

Oz - I found a couple of bottles of your homebrew (a ruby and A N Other, IPA-ish) in the cellar the other day from 2.5 years ago; dunno how long you keep it usually, but feck me that stuff doesn’t mind a bit of keeping, v nice. :ok_hand:

They are all bottle conditioned. Over time they age and develop (some well, some not).
I do have a couple of Abbey style ales (7.2%) which are 6 years old.
They can keep for up to 10 years. Unlikely in this house though, as most gets chugged pretty quickly. I only really age my stronger ales.

I’m glad they were still drinking well. I especially liked the Ruby. I think you got my last. I can’t remember what the A N Other was

Top Knot would be difficult.

No idea, you told me at the time, think it was Citra-hopped (tasted as much), but there wasn’t a mark on the bottle. Good stuff in any case.

Fighting with IT at home. 2 hours ago the whole thing fell over.

Try to get into router (Draytek 2830) via web portal while directly connected via an ethernet lead into it. Nope, despite status lights all looking fine
Restart VM Hub into router mode to check. Yep, works connected but wifi mesh doesn’t want to play.
Restart router not connected to modem. Works.
Restart VM Hub into modem mode and connect to router. Router borks out of allowing web access again, wifi mesh does not assign IP address (repeat another time for further aggravation).
Reset VM Hub into router mode via factory reset and utter many unambiguous expletives.
Restart router again and watch it work properly while not connected.
Switch lead wifi mesh disc off and on again.
Restart VM Hub in modem work and plug into router.
And somehow it all works again…

I’m doing a Beavertown neck oil clone this weekend, five different hops so it’s not quite in the brewdog levels of hop lunacy yet but 3 more than I normally use

Bizarrely I had exactly the same. One PC could see two servers but not the router or the internet, but both servers could see the internet etc fine. Just odd.

At least the solution is obvious: turn off all network stuff and turn it back on again. Now works…

Yeah, I have tended to be conservative on the number of hops although quite generous with quantities. This was a step into the unknown. My hop bill is going to get expensive.

Well this promises to be a quiet night…

GYO :ok_hand:

Tried growing them with no success. Tried picking wild but poor quality.
The overriding issue (and the suppliers know it) is that you need a laboratory to determine the Alpha Acid percentage. This figure relates to bitterness or IBU. Without that figure, you can’t calculate how much to add for a given bitterness/sweetness balance or BU:GU ratio.

My BiL is growing them, 4 varieties now. Made his own oast house from a horse box. You apparently need to get them dry pretty quickly. The odd thing is, it’s still more lucrative to sell them for interior decorative purposes than for brewing. But the crop went very quickly this year.

They used to grow wild all over the place in Germany but I don’t see any round here in the south.

They grow wild in the garden here, albeit they don’t get a chance to flower cos they take over rampantly! Triffids ain’t nothin’…

My mum had another fall last night, she felt dizzy whilst getting ready for bed and hit the deck, and heard a crack in her wrist and then couldn’t get up off the floor.

She did at least use her SOS bracelet this time and the helpers got there fairly quickly, and helped her into bed. She didn’t mention her wrist to them though, and obviously told them not to bother contacting me… :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

This morning it’s all swollen and bruised, but she didn’t ring an ambulance because she couldn’t get changed out of her pjs… :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

So it was only by chance that her neighbour popped in to see if she needed anything, and then rang Claire, that we found out.

So Claire rang an ambulance and went down there. This was about 2pm and as of now, 5+ hours later, the ambulance hasn’t arrived. To be fair, the Ambulance Service did call back a couple of hours ago to say they were incredibly busy and they hadn’t forgotten about her.

I have a horrible feeling that she’s going to have to come and stay here for a bit…

Jeez, sorry to hear that mate. At least she seems OK. Be nice to have her around for a bit, eh ?
