Today I have mainly been V5.0 (Part 3)

Over at Andy’s listening to the Serenity Super Sevens. Another Pulley bargain!

Lovely balanced sound with deep bass extension, open mids and ultra smooth treble. Super wide soundstage too :ok_hand:

Hearing that a friend of mine passed away this morning. He was a top birder, well known by everyone within the Teesmouth birding community, a huge Sunderland fan (we often travelled to the games together) but most of all, a lovely man.

He’d been poorly of late (two strokes) but I had a long phone call with him last Friday and he seemed to be well over the worst and was optimistic about the future. We agreed to meet up next month when I’m in Hartlepool to visit a mutual birder friend who has also had his health issues, sadly that won’t happen now.

RIP Derek, you were one of the good guys.

My best at the moment is 27.34 for 5km which is okay for a 51 year old.
I’ve just finished the couch to 5k thing.

Yes you do have excuses - you have speakers to buy and horns to print

That’s good, my best is 28.05 for 5km. I did the couch to 5km thing a couple of years ago and am doing 5km three times a week but mainly on the treadmill.

Yes there is that. I have certainly enjoyed doing that.

FOL1 goes on bike ride with friends..(Yesterday).

Comes home with:

“Where, pray tell, did you get that?”

“Oh, it was in the road.”

(A quick Google on how to look after a tortoise — Greek, apparently, immediately highlights heat lamps and various other shit we don’t have.)

FOL1: “Can we keep it?”

Not so much, somewhere a family will be very sad, and we can’t look after it properly.

(FOL1 looks completely flattened by this.)

“Take me to where you found it. It can’t have gone far.”

We drive to the scene of the ‘find’ tortoise in tow, and start knocking on doors. Lots of very nice people have no idea where it’s come from. One particularly nice lady says her neighbours have a tortoise, but they’re out. She offers to look after it and check with them when they get back. Failing that, she said she would check with the vet or the RSPCA on Monday.

Proud of FOL1. He handled doing the right thing, even though it wasn’t what he wanted.

Later last night watching tv, there was a passing mention of turtle soup.

FOL1 instantly suspects the nice lady is a “Soup Person” and insists we go back and check on the tortoise today.

Happy Father’s Day.

Owner found and confirmed. “Herbie” is apparently plotting his next rampage.

I fear this is not the end of reptile re-homing. FOL-1 now wants a tortoise or a bull frog.
