Love all the behind the scenes stuff. Would like to visit some of the deep level ones and the closed ones that still have bits left.
I was doing a behind the scenes tour of the Old Bailey today. Would recommend it to anyone with an interest in the court systems or crime. Sadly no photos of the cells, judges dining room, court rooms etc.
Was odd sitting on the same bench as the Crays, Yorkshire ripper etc.
Then went to St Bartholomew’s and on to the Cider Tap near us on the way home.
Popped over to HiFi Lounge near Biggleswade. Have never been before but it looked like a nice place from what I have seen and heard. They were demoing a selection of YG Acoustics speakers and the new Bel Canto amps.
Today, I have been mostly - finalising sorting my CD collection in the new rack.
For the first time ever everything is alphabetised and in one place. Ultimately, I’m surprised how few I actually have, at circa 1,200, but then I didn’t start collecting them until the early noughties as I was too broke to afford anything to play music on!
They are. They’re kind of ridiculous when streaming is A Thing.
It’s just me: I like the involvement of a physical medium, and I have a LOT more CDs than vinyl. I have never really fully got back into vinyl - it’s more expensive, more fragile, most modern stuff is digitally mastered anyway, and I’m a lazy cunt - so getting off my fat arse twice as often was NFG.
Streaming is fine, but I don’t like the way I end-up interacting with music, I don’t like the pushy algorithms of many streaming services either, and I found managing drive based file collections was more faff than it ought to be, so that never really clicked either.
I also have a CD replay system that sounds better than my turntable/phonostage, and cost less…
They look fucking awful in that pic, they’re a more muted mustardy/ochre colour in daylight. They came with the house and woud cost a 4-figure sum to replace because they’re massive, so they’re staying until they go full Miss Haversham and fall off the wall in moth-eaten tatters!
