Married to the lovely Claire for forty years. To celebrate we will be visiting the Horn of Plenty near Tavistock for a cream tea, a (hopefully nice) meal and overnight stay there. I have dug out a few snaps. The reception in the Blue Boar at Wantage cost just £50 including a buffet
Lawnmowing out the front, has been so long since i last used one of these strange contraptions that i nearly forgot how to use it
Horn of Plenty is in a lovely spot with a nice view down the valley & very close to the point where JMW Turner painted Crossing the Brook. (The bridge is the one at Gunnislake)
If you get the chance the Tamar trails nearby are worth a look as is Morwelham.
Just back from the Stonor Antique & Vintage Fair, or Giant Car Boot Sale to you and me.
Properly busy. Punters happy. Traders happy. Food sellers happy. Everybody happy.
The usual tat was available but we did pick up a couple of cabinets for restoration (Narelle loves her chalk paint, so she does) and an old tin bucket (thinking of the resident AA ginger) which will be perfect for planting herbs in.
A beef brisket roll with coleslaw was eaten then onto a Pint in The Crown Inn, Pishill on the way back…
Now, sitting in our garden with a G&T (because it must be sundown somewhere in the world)
Sitting in the garden reading a book and drinking foghorns (gin and ginger beer) occasionally retreating indoors as I don’t do heat very well.
Our lawns desperately need mowing, but I’ve got no petrol. I can’t be arsed going to get any today and have to visit my mum tomorrow.
Suspect I’ll need a grim reaperesque scythe to tackle them by next weekend, so will have to get my finger out.
ah yes mick , this is a tenants house but as they are a vulnerable single female i am going all guns blazing to secure the place and keep them safe
yes , i used carpet grippers on a very long fence , however they do tend to delaminate in the wet over time . spikes from screwfix are plastic and pretty cost effective and of course come with a sign , not that cats can read of course but i am sure they will learn not to go near them !!!
yes , few days ago the builders started the most enormous trench in the garden . of course its clay and it filled up with gallons of water and its still there of course !!!
the surveyor came round and we have the party wall notices but we will dispute them becuase they were just printed off the internet with no details of how they will test the foundations etc or stop my walls collapsing into the trench
everyone in the road has been commenting on the derelist state of the place and one lady thought it had suffered a bomb
Thanks for the info. We will not have much time for more walks today as we have already been round Melton reservoir and are soon to try a cream tea
I will see if we can try a walk tomorrow
Cheers
Just back from London - bit headachey. Eating cake and iced covefe
Meldon reservoir is nice. We’ll have to meet up there sometime & do Yes Tor & High Willhays, the highest place in Southern England.
Up early, finished putting the fence up… The old panels were 180cm, while the new ones were 183cm
Out came the jigsaw…
Been to watch The Wednesday win 5-1. Now in the pub with a Farmers Blonde.
That sounds like a good idea
