The Dewalt has the shadow guide as well now. The KS60 is £540 plus £48 for the shadow light. I’m not sure 60x300mm is big enough either.
Like I said it’s about capacity and what you are using it for, all of them are for roughing out really. The DeWalt shadow guide was less clear than the Festool. Like I said the main thing for me is that it feels safe, the Dewalt grabbed a piece of 2x2 out of the saw and secured it perfectly into the ceiling at one point, I never liked using it as it just felt angry.
Looking on ebay the KS120 goes for 5-700 used, Ill wait and see if one comes up before I actually need it. Its going to be a month or two before construction begins.
I love AVE.
Not at the same level as Festool et al, but I have one of these:
It’s pretty good, and easily coped with 4"x4" when i was building my decking.
Fuck me stripy… This thread! For the amount of use most of you ponces will ever put these £500 bits of kit to, one of these would be fucking overkill!
And how many times have you worn each of your watches?!
I really don’t understand DIYers spunking thousands on Festool kit. Very few pro tradesmen go to that expense.
Haven’t you got 1500 tonnes of rubble that needs shifting? Prevarication won’t get that shifted…
You’ve answered your own question.
Have I?
Yes, posh tools are for DIYers who like to spend on pride of ownership and hope that the extra expense will cover the lack of skill in using them. Or something.
LOL! I have (literally) endless jobs that need doing - and I know that buying a shedfull of absurdly expensive and over-specified bit of equipment isn’t going to make the slightest bit of difference to the weak link (me). Hence I invest my pitiful funds in beer and shiny trinkets that I actually enjoy - guilt free…
Gotcha
Every single decent trades person I know of uses Festool on site and most I have spoken too would suggest using decent (not posh) tools saves time, money and mess in the long run. Posh tools like Holtey planes and the like are in my book a total waste of time, beautifully made as they are.
Bit like hi enthusiasts and pro studio I guess
No one needs more than makita for DIY duties
NO ONE
