Kind of the redneck Ocean’s Eleven, quite entertaining.
Watched it last weekend. Pretty decent & quite offbeat 'n quirky caper movie. Nice balance of drama with a side of comedic moments.

Edit: Some very good performances in this. It’s a brutal film about some horrible characters. Didn’t see the end coming as it did.
Sometimes my mind is against me. Everything about this smelled wrong but with a few hours spare before nap o’clock this weaseled past common sense and blindsided caution to appear half a good idea.
Fuzzy thinking on my part, it led to a very 6/10 nap. Fuck you mind
What a fucking show this was ![]()
This makes it to broadcast TV tonight (22:30, BBC2)
Sweary but showed me a slice of life I didn’t know. If you didn’t have the right streaming service (yeah, probably just me I realise) then it used to be hard to find. Maybe it’ll be on the iPlayer ?
I went out and bought Sylvan Esso stuff after I’d seen it
Ooh yes I’ll be watching that, the two lead actors are consistently brilliant.
(Also a long time fan of Sylvan Esso).
Gen V
If you liked The Boys, you might like this. Similar, but with teens.
Bar is set suitably low in Ep1, am not even blurring a spoiler, its twisted.
Yeah, the teen / high school schtick is weak sauce - There’s moments that nudge a few boundaries though.
The Creator.
Entertaining sci-fi hokum about the unlikely occurrence of the US going apeshit and attacking an Asian region that happens to have some advanced AI they’re scared of. Of course nothing like that will ever happen & it’s just a study of existing US foreign policy but shifted a little into the future.
Hints of both Blade Runner & District 9
Quite enjoyable though despite only being 12A so lacking the ultra violence these modern scifi films usually inflict on us.
Probably worth seeing on an Imax screen if you can find a showing. If I’d known it’d be so spectacular I would’ve.
Watched it the other day and really liked it ![]()
Intelligence is never artificial, it’s just intelligence. That’s how I felt coming away from it.
Revisiting this
It gets worse season by season, but I’m fond of the first few.
Iain Glen lives locally so it’s not uncommon to hear him booming across the shop or whatever.
The local press hated the Scotsman’s take on the Galway accent ![]()
The contrast between the people fined £10K or being forcibly distanced at funerals & the wankers in No10 couldn’t have been more stark.
That’s going in the bank to be wheeled out at an appropriate juncture ![]()
Preposterous nonsense, but stylish and enjoyable preposterous nonsense. ![]()
Very enjoyable.
Two Eps in so far. Some good acting talent playing some of the characters and the plot focus is on the investigation.
Yeah, it’s good.
