Yeah I enjoyed the Continental as well. To some extent it was not clear what it was meant to be - it lacked the beautiful balletic violence of John Wick, but didn’t make up for it with more fleshed out characters or plot - but it was somehow fun, for sure.
Bit of an issue after x3 hrs of attempting to tell a story.
It’s pretty obviously an origin story / prequel so not sure what you expect.

Watched this last night and enjoyed it. Like the setting.
In fairness John Wick isn’t known for dialogue. JW flicks are overboard murderthon spectacles with great cinematography.
The series, is much slower on action, way more dialogue, couldn’t be described as spectacular and seems hamstrung by attempting to tell a story without a single original film cast member to anchor it down.
It poodles along, attempts to entertain, (dystopia is usually more entertaining) but feels overall a bit two bob, akin to a Mr. Kippling mince pie really. You will eat the box full, it will taste a bit like a mince pie but the experience will be claggy, dis satisfactory, ultimately flavorless.
Meh. You’re overthinking it.
Haha, it lacked sufficient diversion to allow that to happen. Damn thing tangled with nap time
Hijack.
It’s really quite good despite having Idris Elba in it.
Reckoning. Coogan is very good as Savile but I found 30 mins was enough before my blood was boiling.
It’s horrific.
15 mins in Hel looked at my hands and told me to unclench my fists
. It’s not an easy watch and I’m gonna watch something much gentler like Bake Off tonight!
Am I watching the same program? It’s ![]()
Reptile, on Netflix. Superb film, thoroughly enjoyed it. Benicio del Toro in fine form, as were Timberlake and Silverstone.
Watched this pre nap, really enjoyed it. Benicio del Toro is compelling.
Catching up on Black Mirror - so good.
My admiration for Charlie Brooker has increased significantly since Sam and I started sampling some of the considerable backlog - some very well-written zeitgeisty stuff.
S3E1 is just astonishingly well observed. If you only watch one, watch that one.
Yep - seen it, and you’re right: it’s superb. It’s emblematic of what’s so good about so many episodes: he takes contemporary societal dysfunctions and projects their evolution a bit further into the future in a painfully believable way.
S4 E5 is another that hit hard for different but somehow comparable reasons.
Bloody good stuff.
I didn’t like the way it was done with modern interviews mixed with flashback footage. It was all a bit now then, now then, now then…
Coat, etc…
That’s was a bit weird for sure. But Coogan did portray him very well.
