What I'm watching (Series 2)

Michael Morpurgo lived in Iddesleigh. So setting stuff in the local area is not unexpected.

We are going to see the stage show in December.

This was the house in 2022 when we passed it on a walk.

Just watched the NT’s staging of ‘Nye’… Got to be honest, I found it pretty excruciating. Upsides - it reminds those watching that the greatest enemy of the NHS isn’t actually tories, but the BMA…

We sure could use another Nye, rather than the endless cavalcade of mediocrities we do get…

Every bit as intriguing as the first series. Really high quality drama but be sure to watch S1 first.

A lot could be said here as it is both great and sucky combined in quite a gumbo. Very Bondian in terms of styling with some great and bad acting. Like Bond it is advised to switch off any intelligence and just flow with the noise pictures (Handy if like me you turned off some point in the mid 80’s)

I’m enjoying it three episodes in.

With stuff like this I use the test: is it exciting and does it keep me watching?

Yes and yes. I forgive all the rest.

Releasing x5 Eps as a batch to binge then switching to x1 every Thursday for the remainder is quite the way to get you invested and keep you on the line. Reverse Foreplay it seems works. I need to know how this one fleshes out.

Which platform?

This is a good site for looking up streaming sources

I’m watching on ‘Now’ but Sky I think or your usual ‘other’ pop up parties

I am interested to watch this, although it will be a solo affair as Sarah will hate it I’m pretty sure. I read the book, and really enjoyed the original film. Never watched the Holywood effort because it just looked like it would be a carcrash and I didn’t want to ruin the picture I had in my head. This at least looks like it could be a worthwhile update.

Finished S2 of The Old Man. Enjoyed it overall, but fuck me, John Lithgow, the Actor where acting went to die!

Plot wise it’s Deja Vu O’clock with better CGI and a little more gore. In virtually every way II falls short of the original but it does conjure Rome and testosterone if that’s your bag. Watchable 7/10

and presumably 100% less Oliver Reed which is a bad thing.

The original didn’t have 100% Oliver Reed

He peaked at Harry and the Henderson’s

Olie is now Denzel who I’m sure will do well at the award ceremonies but is no Olie.
