What I'm watching (Series 2)

Can part 2 improve on the first one?

Oh fuck no, unbelievably it is worse, the most shite and cliched script, wooden acting and shit soundtrack. Managed 30 mins through gritted teeth before switching off.

How the fuck does Zac Snyder keep getting commissions, he’s fucking useless

Definitely worth a watch.

Was reading a little about that yesterday. Is S01 worth embarking on?

Yes. I think it’s one of the best shows made in recent times.

Also saw this last week:

Interesting take on the whole kidnap thing with a religious twist. Hugh Grant does do a good baddie - I think he’s found his niche at last!

Yeah it’s really good. It’s the only series ending that’s made me go and look up spoilers from the books.

The Expanse made me read all the books

Managed to resist Silo.

It’s absolutely superb. I’m saving up a few episodes of Season 2 to watch in one go. I can’t remember the last time I was so excited about the continuation of something.

Will be interesting watching those who thought themselves untouchable thrown to the wolves by those who wish to remain so.

Gladiator 2. The spectacle was fine, the story telling linear & the plot something an 8 year old could grasp without difficulty. CGI demon baboons were a bit shit but overall I was entertained (just). Not a patch on the 1st one though.

All of the quality of production. Absolutely none of what made the original a great movie. Not all that surprising but I was disappointed anyway.

Nowadays, if I can come away not absolutely hating a blockbuster then it’s a result.

Deadpool & Wolverine. So basically a bunch of in-jokes for the comic book and film nerds, loosely draped over a superficial ‘plot’.

I mean its fun, but.

Absolute cack.

For example, having a shop sign of ‘Liefield - Just Feet’ in the background of one of the fight scenes to take the piss out of original Deadpool artist (New Mutants #98), who famously couldn’t draw feet (that just one of his artistic flaws tbh), its funny but like a lot of the humour, its very niche to say the least. Has the film really been made to parade a bunch of obscure references for the fans?

Didn’t Tarantino do that in the Kill Bill series? Basically a homage to low budget cinema.
Although the films stood up on their own.
No doubt box office returns for MCU won’t suffer too much as long as it looks good.
