Rather good .
Had that recommended to me the other day
Sting at the IoW Festival. Sky Arts. Faithless are on later. Ch36. Seems to be a huge crowd there.
Oof, youâd never get away with half of this nowadays, and thatâs well before you get to the Hendrix buzz-saw cock ripping Debbie Gibson apart for crimes of mall-pop, and the casual homophobic rant against George Michael
All that said, damn he was fucking funny.
Got out this evening to see
Not my usual type of film but the reviews were good and, well, Gillian Anderson. And it was on at my local Cineworld, which needs the support. Itâs really not a glamorous movie though. I havenât read the book but it felt like theyâd done a workmanlike job of making a film out of it.
Iâve heard really good reports about it - I think itâs appreciably different to the book in a few ways given comments, but not in a way that spoils it.
I imagine the book contains a lot more detail than a sub-2-hour film can. But some important points certainly are touched on. If it were fiction youâd need to suspend disbelief over such a sick man setting out on such a tough journey with so few resources, seemingly capriciously. But it isnât fiction.
It rings quite a few bells with anyone whoâs walked very far in a day.
I gave it a couple episodes but just didnât get it. May have to give it another go.
At first it was just compound stress, disparate and hard to neatly digest but that is this shows point⌠Through superb characterization, use of humor and other human âhooksâ You end up living in the kitchen with these dysfunctional but individually lovable people - Itâs story telling on a very high level but you have to hang in till the penny drops (At least i did) .
F1 movie
Brad Pitt plays an ageing driver drafted in to help a struggling F1 team mid season. Apparently a remake of some earlier Indycar based film. I enjoyed it. A good cast, a decent plot, enough technical and tactical intrigue to maintain interest for someone who doesnât follow the real thing that closely. Itâd be cool to learn more about the logistics of making it as plenty of the real teams, drivers, crew and circuits have evidently taken part.
Iâll also be intrigued to read what people who closely follow or have worked in the sport make of it. I couldnât help thinking that the real thing could do with a bit more of such drama
You donât need to be living there to be brainwashed without knowing it.
Social media is where kids get their news and life advice. Yeah. Have a think who controls that!
Long live fake news.
We are all a product, to a greater or less extent, of our environment. Not sure itâs only the preserve of kids or Daily Telegraph-reading Colonels.
